Why swap the factory Oysterflex

The factory Oysterflex isn't the problem. Rolex picked FKM because it works, and the build quality is what you'd expect from the gold sport line. What the factory Oysterflex doesn't give you is choice.

Daytona Oysterflex ships in black on most references and in selected white configurations. Brown, grey or any color outside that range isn't available from Rolex. That's the first reason to swap.

The second is rotation. Many Daytona owners keep the factory Oysterflex unworn in the box for resale value while a replacement takes the pool, the sweat and the daily exposure. When the watch goes back to market, the original strap is mint.

The third is what happens if the factory strap wears out. Rolex doesn't sell the Oysterflex as a separate part. The only way to get an original replacement is through a Service Center as part of a full watch service.

Our straps use FKM in the same compound family as the factory original, without the internal titanium-nickel blade. Lighter on the wrist, same chemical behavior under chlorine, saltwater and sun.

How to fit and size the strap

Standard Rolex spring bar attachment. The strap mounts the same way as the factory Oysterflex, no special tools and no end-link adaptation.

For sizing, two measurements: 6 o'clock and 12 o'clock around the wrist, in millimeters. Cross them in the table for your Tempomat size. If you already wear an original Daytona Oysterflex, the letter stamped inside each side (D, E or F) gives you the exact combination.

Strap length (6 o'clock) Strap length (12 o'clock) Rolex ref (older style) Rolex ref (newer style) Tempomat Madrid size
45 mm 45 mm ED + ED D + D Extra Small (XS)
55 mm 45 mm ED + EE D + E Small (S)
55 mm 55 mm EE + EE E + E Medium (M)
45 mm 65 mm ED + EF D + F 5/7
55 mm 65 mm EE + EF E + F Large (L)
65 mm 65 mm EF + EF F + F Extra Large (XL)

The strap ships with one length per side. XS/S/M/L/XL is a lug-to-lug fit, not a wrist measurement. Between sizes, go shorter for a slim profile, longer if you wear it over a sleeve.
