Leather straps for the Rolex Datejust, cut, edged and stitched by hand in our Madrid workshop. All of them are 20mm, the lug width of every Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36, vintage or current. Suede, Epsom or smooth leather, each at €90.

Which Datejust do these fit?

The 1601, 16234, 116234 and current 126234, in steel or two-tone, all take these straps, whether yours came on a Jubilee or an Oyster bracelet.

The other sizes work differently. The Datejust 41 uses 21mm lugs, which we don't make in leather; if you have a 41, there's FKM rubber in six colors on Rolex Datejust 41mm straps. The Datejust 31 (14mm lugs) and smaller ladies' references aren't covered, so contact us before ordering if you own one.

The bracelet comes off with a spring bar tool (€20). Epsom and smooth leather then go on without tools thanks to their quick-release spring bars. Suede mounts on standard spring bars, either the ones from your bracelet or our 20mm Swiss Made Spring Bars (€12).

Suede, Epsom or smooth leather

All three close with a stainless steel buckle; what changes is the surface and how it wears.

  • Suede. A matte surface that makes the Datejust look more casual. Grey, camel brown, dark brown and navy blue. Strap pieces of around 12cm and 7.5cm, plus buckle.
  • Epsom. Pressed grain that holds up to scratches and keeps the strap's shape. 2.5mm thick, tapering from 20mm to 16mm, with quick-release spring bars. Black, blue, taupe and grey. Strap pieces of 11.5cm and 7cm, plus buckle.
  • Smooth leather. Polished surface, the dressiest of the three. 2.5mm thick, with the same 20mm to 16mm taper and quick-release spring bars. Brown. Strap pieces of 11.5cm and 7cm, plus buckle.

Which leather for which Datejust

Rolex itself once sold the Datejust on leather: in the 116 series that arrived in 2004, full-gold Datejust 36 references such as the yellow gold 116138 came on leather straps. Leather is no longer an option in the Datejust collection, so today it's an owner's choice, and the metal of the case is the best place to start.

  • Yellow gold. Camel brown suede or brown smooth leather.
  • Two-tone. Taupe Epsom or grey suede.
  • Steel. Epsom in black, blue or grey if it's going to be worn every day, suede for a softer, casual look.
